Leadership Development and Team Building
n

Leadership is all about bringing out the best in other people, helping others to achieve their full potential, and developing leaders in an organization is all about learning.  As John Kennedy observed,
"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other."

Through tools and processes like 360 feedback assessments, work-unit climate surveys, leadership workshops, and executive coaching we focus on the fostering behaviors that clearly separate the premium-performance leader.

But leaders are all part of a team and building the effectiveness of that team goes hand-in-hand with leadership development.  As J. Katzenbach and D. Smith observed in their seminal work, The Wisdom of Teams (Harvard Business School Press, 1993), there are five interdependent characteristics that separate a mediocre team from a high-performing team:

  1. a meaningful common purpose
  2. specific performance goals
  3. complementary skills
  4. strong team commitment
  5. mutual accountability

Our efforts in building teams are focused on these characteristics as well as accelerating individual members through the four classic stages of team development; forming – storming – norming – performing.
