Michael J. Pickering, Founding Partner

Mike created BPLS with the vision of building a great Canadian organization recommended by clients, employees, and industry associations for its outstanding contribution to individual and organizational learning.  

Over his 28 years of progressive experience in the fields of training, consulting, and facilitating Mike has undertaken over 115 separate client assignments in 17 countries.  He has taken on roles as the Chief Learning Officer for Sapient Technologies, Senior VP and Managing Director of Forum Learning Systems, and Course Designer and Instructor in Organizational Behaviour and Instructional Design at U of T’s School of Continuing Studies.  Independently he has advised and facilitated strategic decisions at the executive level of many of the world’s biggest corporations, including but not limited to…

Chris Nicholl, Business Manager

Chris finished atop the University of Victoria’s graduating class with a MBA in Entrepreneurship.  His past experiences lie within the areas of customer service and entrepreneurial pursuits within the service sector.  Chris has a passion for creating and building enterprises and the potential value BPLS can create for its clients, partners, and employees. 

He has performed consulting projects in varying capacities for a number of organizations ranging from small 2 person start-ups, to government associations, to the Fortune 500. 

Chris’ role with BPLS includes providing customer service, developing new business, improving operational effectiveness, and advancing BPLS’ capabilities and value to its clients through actively searching out and creating strategic partnerships.

Shawn McAteer, Sales Manager

Following graduation from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Commerce, Shawn jumped into the world of consulting founding and successfully growing a management consulting company to over 250 employees.  He has more than fourteen years management consulting and market research experience securing engagements with medium to large private/public companies across North America.  Recently he has performed various management consulting assignments including action plans and strategic development on the behalf of executive level Sales, Marketing, and Product Development Directors.

Shawn is the author of the best-selling book titled, “Business Dynamics Equals Business Success”, and continues to write in trade journals on subjects related to Change Management, Knowledge Management, Strategy Implementation, and Leadership Development linking his conviction that “the world is moving into a global knowledge-driven economy where knowledge will be increasingly recognized as the primary strategic and competitive asset of any organization”.

Shawn is developing and managing BPLS sales engagements with clients and partners, responsible for providing the full breadth of BPLS’s solutions and services.  He actively customizes solutions based upon an organization’s values, goals, and the underlying situational factors that make that organization unique; ensuring that the proposed solutions will achieve the outcomes our clients desire.
